HIPPO STEEL chair

The Hippo Steel chair keeps the architectural quality of its timber version, including the familiar two-leg profile that has become shorthand for the series. The elegant bend in the steel frame is deliberate: it marks a considered design decision and brings a softening curve to an otherwise angular, severe frame. The detail also carries the trace of the hand that made it, and it is an attempt to soften the look of the chair, which is very much a NORR11 characteristic.

Soft, rounded forms give the Hippo series its friendly, confident silhouette, while the move to steel brings a new lightness to the design.

Because the material is strong, the frame can be made to slimmer dimensions without giving up durability, which gives the chair a leaner, more contemporary profile. A tubular steel frame is light and easy to move, which suits meeting rooms, restaurants and collaborative spaces.
