MAT CHAIR chair

MAT CHAIR is a collaboration between the Danish design company Normann Copenhagen and the design studio Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen, centred on innovation, the circular economy and a conscious choice of materials. The seat is made of hemp and seagrass – valuable, rapidly renewable materials with a considerably better environmental profile than traditional plastics. A biodegradable binder is also used, which makes the chair’s construction strong while still allowing it to be recycled at the end of its life. The finish involves hand sanding and the use of linseed oil (VOC-free) as a surface treatment.
